In the Spring of 378YE during an ascendancy of The Drowned Man, the Suns of Couros, Cantiarch’s Hold, Shattered Tower, and the Unbound, led by Brother Modercai went back to Haros, to the chapter’s old Winter regio by the Cliff of Eyes. The goal was to cast a curse upon the territory to deny the Druj any benefit from their occupation and to bog down any barbarian armies present.

The night before the attack, the animated corpse of Brother Aziraphael, who fell during the Fall of Haros, came to Anvil to speak to the chapter Council. The possessing spirit told those assembled that the Druj had their own ritual plans and were in the process of raising the Highborn dead to serve the barbarians. It urged the Suns of Couros to come quickly home to stop the defilement. With its message imparted, the corpse headed back to Reikos to carry out what remnants of duty it could hold onto.

Later that night heralds from both Sorin and Kaela visited Anvil to treat with the chapter. The Tomb King’s envoys were listened to and an offer of help was accepted. The Lady of Oblivion was ignored.

On the day the Highguard forces arrived to find the Druj already at the Cliff of Eyes regio, their ritual underway. A charge lead by bother Skinner and Exarch Silas disrupted the Druj ritualists long enough for the main line to arrive and hold the site. In the melee Brother Skinner nobly sacrificed his life single-handedly attacking the Druj ritualists. Once the regio was freed, Jessica, Kidron, Gideon, Libby, Grey, Darda and Jared resumed the Highborn plan and were able to cast the ritual “Winter’s Ghosts” on Reikos. As part of the bargain with Sorin, at the end of the ritual the regio was forever destroyed, robbing the Druj of a potential weapon. Their work done the Highguard forces left Reikos and carried their dead back to Anvil.

The ritual, which unleashed malevolent spirits of Winter across Reikos, was empowered by the ascendancy of the Drowned Man and by other boons granted by Sorin. As such, rather than lasting a season it lasted an entire year, scourgin Reikos and it’s Druj occupiers mercilessly.
